![]() He indicated that he would tell the dealer (colman Buick) about the problem. When the tow truck drive arrived and hooked the car up to tow, he indicated that the passenger side bolt that holds the engine to the frame was missing. While waiting for tow, I checked oil level (it was over filled by at least a quart (maybe more), dip stick was not seated properly to check oil level. ![]() Called dealer who had car towed to their location. On the return trip to home, engine started to miss, smoke was coming from back of car like oil was being burned and the engine "check engine light" came on and the car was stopped. Had an oil change at dealer (typical 15,000 mile check). When the turbo goes out it can cause a wreak since we have to travel on the highway and cuesta grade as we lose ability to accelerate. We are very concerned for our safety with this car. Each time the dealership stated additional things were happening to the car when the turbo was "going out".we received a call on 10 /9 (over two weeks from the time the car was towed to the dealership) that the turbo was now repaired and we could pick up the car. After about a week the dealership called and explained they had installed another turbo which had failed again and they were waiting on parts to replace it which would be the 3rd turbo to be installed in our car besides the original one the manufacturer installed. We had the car towed back to the same dealership on 9/24. Again we started to lose the ability to accelerate and had to drive the highway at a low speed to make it home with the car making terrible sounds and noises. We asked GM to contribute since we were barley over the warranty mileage allowed".we picked up our car after the original turbo was replaced on 9/23 and again the car began making noises on the cuesta grade. We were told we were "just over the warranty mileage allowed 70,000 and had to pay for the repair. Our car was towed to the dealership on 9/13. Our car was barley moving as we made drove it into our driveway. There’s also a good-size cargo hold, expandable via the split, folding rear seat the front passenger seatback also lays flat. Our 2015 Buick Encore broke down on 9/12 while driving home late at night traveling over the cuesta grade we had a tough time with acceleration and had to drive slow over the grade and on the highway all the way home. ![]() Despite the trim dimensions, the high roofline, chairlike seating position, and wide-opening doors mean the Encore is accommodating for four (five? not so much). Outward visibility for the driver is very good-although a fast-rising beltline and wide C-pillars mean those in back don’t enjoy much of a view. The vehicle is easy to thread through traffic and a cinch to park. What We Like: Set aside aesthetics, and the Encore’s oddball proportions actually work in its favor. ![]() It requires paying for a data plan, but a three-month/three-gigabyte starter plan is free. It can connect up to seven (!) devices and works whenever the car is running. The 2015 Buick Encore adds 4G LTE wireless hot-spot connectivity, which is standard across the board. They’re unusual for this class, as is the available forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning-those, however, are exclusive to the top-spec model. Last year, it was a blind-spot warning system and rear cross-traffic alert, which are standard on all but the base version. What’s New: Buick has tacked on additional tech features in each of the two years since the crossover’s launch. We drove the top-spec 2015 Buick Encore AWD Premium for this review. The Encore is offered in four trim levels, any of which can be had with all-wheel drive. Even in a more crowded field, however, the Buick stands out for its quietness and smooth ride, although it’s hardly the most fun to drive among its peers. We’ve seen new entries from Jeep (Renegade), Honda (HR-V), and Mazda (CX-3), not to mention the Encore’s new sibling, the mechanically identical Chevy Trax. That white space is quickly evaporating, though, as manufacturers rush into the subcompact-crossover segment. With its available all-wheel drive and nimble handling, this baby Buick has a foot in both camps, and it managed to find a bit of white space in today’s hypercrowded car market-enough that its sales last year approached 50,000 units. Overview: We weren’t quite sure what to make of the Buick Encore when it arrived for 2013: It’s smaller than nearly every other crossover but taller than traditional hatchbacks like the Volkswagen Golf.
